Where our program information comes from

The list of licensed child care programs on Daycare Discoverer, including names, addresses, care types, ages served, languages and contact details, comes from the Province of British Columbia.

BC Child Care Map Data

Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – British Columbia.

Source: Child Care Map Data, published by the Government of British Columbia in the BC Data Catalogue. We refresh our copy regularly and combine it with information programs send us directly, such as how they prefer to receive applications.

Programs' own websites

Where a program has a public website, we read a few of its pages (the home page and its contact or enrolment pages) to find a public email address, a short description and its waitlist page. We follow each site's robots.txt, identify ourselves as DaycareDiscovererBot, and only fill in details nobody has entered by hand. Programs can correct their details or ask us to stop contacting them at any time.

Google Maps

Each program page links to the program on Google Maps, where you can read other families' reviews, and may show Google's map of the program. We don't check or endorse those reviews. To find a program's own website we may look it up on Google; we keep only Google's id for the listing.

Daycare Discoverer is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the Government of British Columbia, and nothing on this site has any official status. Use of provincial data does not mean the Province supports this service or how the data is used here.

Program details, vacancies and contact information can change or be out of date, so please confirm anything important with the program itself. See our terms for more.
