Terms of service

These terms cover your use of Daycare Discoverer. By creating an account you agree to them. We've tried to keep them short and in plain language.

What Daycare Discoverer does

Daycare Discoverer helps families in Metro Vancouver, BC apply to licensed child care programs. From one family profile we build a shortlist of programs that fit your child's age and your location, send applications by email or through a program's own web form once you approve them, send polite check-ins to keep you active on each list, sort replies, and alert you when a spot is offered.

We are not a child care provider, a licensing body or an agent for any program. Each program runs its own waitlist and makes its own decisions about who is offered a spot.

Pricing

Building your profile and seeing your shortlist is free.
Each application to a program uses one credit. New accounts get 5 free credits, and more credits are $10 CAD each, bought at checkout when you send.
Check-ins, reply sorting and offer alerts for programs you've applied to are included at no extra cost. There is no subscription.
Applicable taxes are added at checkout. Payments are handled by Stripe.
We never charge placement fees, and we never ask programs for priority or payment.

No guarantee of a spot

Child care in Metro Vancouver is in short supply, and many programs have long waitlists. We help you apply widely and stay on each list, but we can't promise that any program will offer you a spot, how long it will take, or where you'll sit on a list.

Your part

You're responsible for making sure your family profile is accurate and up to date. Applications use what you enter, so please check each one before you approve it.
You must be a parent or guardian of the child, or have their permission, and add a co-parent only with their agreement.
Some programs need you to fill in their own forms, pay a waitlist fee, or contact them directly. We'll tell you when that happens.
Offers usually have a deadline. Answering in time is up to you, though we'll alert you as soon as one arrives.

Stopping

There's nothing to cancel, because there's no subscription. You can stop all check-ins at any time in Settings, which keeps you on every list, or delete your account, which withdraws you from every list.

Refunds

Credits you bought and haven't used are refundable within 14 days of purchase. Email us and we'll refund them in full. A credit is used once its application is sent, and used credits aren't refundable. Free credits have no cash value.

Fair use

Please use Daycare Discoverer only for your own family's search. Don't use it to send messages that aren't about child care, to apply on behalf of children you aren't responsible for, or to try to get around a program's request not to be contacted. We may pause or close accounts that do.

Your information

Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how it's used.

Limits and changes

We work hard to keep the service running and accurate, but it's provided as is. Program details come from public BC licensing data (see data sources) and from programs themselves, and can be out of date. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you've paid us in the last 12 months. These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia. If we change them, we'll tell you by email before the change takes effect.
